MonteSur — Tourism Platform Planning & Web Prototype

A regional tourism platform concept designed to coordinate group accommodation across small independent hotels, promote local experiences, and centralize regional product sales across the Almadén mining region.

Project Overview

MonteSur addresses a specific structural challenge in rural tourism: accommodating coach tour groups of ~50 visitors in areas where no individual hotel has sufficient capacity. Through a coordinated booking platform, local operators can pool availability, while tourists enjoy unified booking for stays, gastronomy, and cultural visits.

Stakeholder Research & Needs Analysis

  • Conducted field outreach and exploratory interviews with senior representatives of the Almadén Mining Park management company, hotel proprietors, Artemina artisans, municipal councillors, and the regional business association.
  • Identified operational bottlenecks in coach tour reception and confirmed strong interest among local operators in coordinated availability sharing.

Proposed Technical Architecture

The platform is designed around modular, headless open-source components:

  • HotelDruid: Central reservation engine managing room availability, multi-property allocations, and group booking logic.
  • MedusaJS: Headless e-commerce layer handling ticket bookings, regional artisanal product sales, and Stripe payment processing.
  • Strapi CMS: Content management for visitor guides, route itineraries, and regional storytelling.

Design & Frontend Prototyping

  • Created the visual brand identity, logo, and promotional materials.
  • Developed an interactive frontend prototype built with Pinegrow and featuring lightweight Lottie animations for intuitive navigation.
  • Prepared comprehensive project documentation for European development grants and regional business competitions (target submission: 2027).

Current Status & Next Steps

  • Planning, stakeholder analysis, and partial frontend prototype completed.
  • Commercial launch and backend integrations subject to future funding rounds.
